How to Have a Blast Traveling with Kids in Florida

The Sunshine State of Florida is one of the best places to take your family during a spring or summer vacation. The weather is almost perfect year-round, the beaches are beautiful, the Atlantic waters are warm, and the world-famous theme parks will keep your kids excited for the months and weeks after the trip.

Even so, if you want to have the perfect trip with your family in Florida, you need to plan in advance and make sure that you’re hitting all of the best spots in the state. Today, we’ll take a look at a few of the things you need to do while in Florida to have as much fun as possible with your family.

Fly High in Pensacola

Pensacola is one of the premier cities in Florida for beach lounging. If you want to take a break from the heat and want to head inside for the day, you should take the family to one of the many museums in the area. Most specifically, we’ve found the enormous Naval Aviation Museum is a favorite among families.

In the 350,000 square foot facility, you’ll see hundreds of restored aircraft from the Navy. Learn a little more about the history, and if you time your trip right, you might be able to visit during the Blue Angel practice.

Come Face-to-Face with Alligators

If you find yourself in St. Augustine, you should take the time out of your day to visit the Alligator Farm there. At the farm, you’ll be able to see a vast selection of crocodiles, alligators, and caimans. They even have an albino gator there! Watch as the alligator handlers feed them, and even get your chance to take a family picture holding one of the young alligators!

Explore the Theme Parks

If you’re in Florida and brought your kids along, you’d be failing as a parent if you didn’t at least stop by one of the many theme parks in the state for at least a few hours. From Disney World to Universal Studios Orlando to LEGOLAND, there are so many theme parks in the state of Florida, that some people make them the entire focal point of their trip. Plan your visit in advance and look for times that the park is less busy to avoid waiting in lines all day.

Explore Little Havana

If you find yourselves down in South Florida in Miami, you should take the day to go and immerse yourself in Cuban culture down in Little Havana. There, you’ll be able to try authentic Cuban food, listen to Cuban music, and learn more about their culture. It’s an excellent way for the entire family to spend the day and your kids will love it!

Check Out Everglades National Park

In our experience, we’ve found that the Everglades National Park is one of the best places to take the family while visiting Florida. The park covers most of the southern tip of Florida, and you’ll find mile after mile of wilderness and wild animals. There isn’t an environment like this anywhere else in the country and is worth the visit.
